My name is Tameka Tate. I’m the CEO/Founder of the Meltdown Candle Bar located in Castro Valley, Ca. The Meltdown Candle Bar is an African Chic/ Bohemian themed brick and mortar & online candle store. Afro Chic/Bohemian is a style that embraces African culture with an unconventional sense of fashion. It is a blend of bohemian, African diasporic, and eclectic design styles.

My love for African culture, celebration and love for candles is how the Meltdown Candle Bar was created. After attending several candle-making workshops, reading candle-making business 101 books, and joining candle-making support groups, I knew I was hooked, candle-making was on my bucket list for years. It made perfect sense for me to join the candle-making business community. The thought of me having the opportunity to custom make my candle, select a vessel, pick from a variety of candle fragrances, and celebrate a special occasion with family/friends inspired me to open an establishment where the environment and atmosphere would be nostalgic leaving you with a sense of calm, tranquility, & wellness.

Our goal is to elevate your custom candle-making experience by providing a unique experience everyone will love. At The Meltdown Candle Bar, you can create your own luxury crafted candle.
